Road Commissioner
Background
The Road Commissioner is elected by the voters for a three-year term to oversee Westport Island’s road maintenance and repair.
What the Road Commissioner Does
- Oversees road maintenance, grading and snow removal
- Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding Town roads;
- Works with contractors to mitigate drainage problems that damage Town roads
- Confers with the Select Board on road problems and improvement projects; and
- Prepares budget requests for the Town Meeting.
