Road Commissioner

Background

The Road Commissioner is elected by the voters for a three-year term to oversee Westport Island’s road maintenance and repair.

What the Road Commissioner Does

  • Oversees road maintenance, grading and snow removal
  • Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding Town roads;
  • Works with contractors to mitigate drainage problems that damage Town roads
  • Confers with the Select Board on road problems and improvement projects; and
  • Prepares budget requests for the Town Meeting.
