1. Clough Point Town Preserve

Clough Point Town Preserve is located at the end of North End Road, a quarter mile after the Lobster Co-Op. Clough Point is a small eight-acre preserve owned by the Town of Westport Island.

This shoreline area is maintained by the Conservation Commission in its natural state, offering exceptional views of the island’s woods, shoreline, tidal coves, and historic Fort Edgecomb and Wiscasset Harbor. The short walking trails will lead you through pine and oak woods to picnic tables and granite benches, located along the shore.

The preserve was purchased in 1971 with private contributions and a grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund. The handicapped-accessible trails marked on the map were constructed in 2007 with assistance and funding from the Recreational Trails Program of the Maine Department of Conservation and the Town of Westport Island.
