The Broadband and Cable Committee
The Selectmen appointed Cable Contract Negotiating Committee members in 2016 with the mission to renegotiate a contract for cable services with Spectrum (formerly Time Warner). The goal of a new town contract is to make cable programming services available to all residents -- this includes making modern internet data speeds available to all as well.
The Committee is in ongoing negotiations with Spectrum. As part of this process, it is working in cooperation with the Lincoln County Planning Commission to help the region secure ConnectME grant funds to help defray the costs of expanding the infrastructure with an extended build out of cable wiring.
The focus of the Cable Contract Negotiating Committee has been expanded to work on making broadband internet services available to all residents. To this end, members are working with Consolidated Communications and Redzone Wireless, as well as Spectrum.
The Committee is no longer negotiating the cable contract. It is now the Broadband and Cable Committee and continues its dedication to making broadband and cable services available to all residents as set forth in the Comprehensive Plan.
